New Students Orientation Libguide: Library Facilities

Study Spaces

Study Rooms, Carrels, and Other Seating

The library has carrels, soft chairs, table seating, and comfortable "study pods" throughout the library. Carrels and study rooms can be reserved using the Reservation app on the MyUTLaw portal. We do ask that you take your things with you when you go and throw away/recycle any trash. Study rooms and carrels may be reserved only by members of the College of Law community. Fourth floor carrels are not reservable and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. When you leave any carrel or study room, you must take all your belongings with you.

Standing Desks

Standing desks are also available throughout the law library. You can find them on each floor of the library except the ground floor.

Print, Copy and Scan

To print

All law students receive a $30 VolPrint credit each academic year. The detailed instructions on how to print from your own computer can be found HERE

To make copies

The library has three copiers available for law student use. These copiers are located on the third floor near the elevator, in the rear corner of the Reserve Reading Room, and in the alcove next to the interior stairwell on the first floor. For some of these copiers, you may use your All Star funds on your Vol Card to make copies. You can also purchase a copy card from the black vending machine located behind the gold record display case on the first floor.

To scan

You can use the copiers to scan documents as well. Scanned documents can be sent via emails or saved directly to a USB driver. Using the scanner is free to all patrons.

Something Other Than Books

We are a law library, but books are not the only thing we have here! Here are something you might be interested in borrowing from us.

  • Surface tablets with keyboard
  • Umbrellas
  • Whiteboard Markers / Erasers
  • Laptop power cords
  • Ring lights
  • Headphones
  • Book stands and podiums
  • Apple VGA Adapters
  • Video Cameras
  • Light therapy lamps

To get any of these items, stop by the Circulation Desk and ask the staff person to retrieve it for you.

Lockers

Law students can check out lockers in the library for the entire academic year. Library lockers are free to law students. You can check out a library locker starting on August 19. Simply note what locker you want and proceed to the Circulation Desk, Monday - Friday 8 AM - 7 PM. Use this link to see a list of all lockers, with notes on which ones are available and which are already checked out.
